Silicone and Soft PVC is always used for our original material to produce articrafts, such as different mats/3D toys/ keychains/fridge magnets/bracelets, and so on.
Their original material looks similar, so many clients didn’t know how to distinguish them.
Because we are a factory of silicone and Soft PVC, so we would like to share our experience on how to distinguish the difference between silicone and PVC.
1. The difference of original material.
PVC items are made of PVC, oil, and color paste. The PVC material is powder, after putting PVC /oil and color paste together, then producing PVC items, the PVC item’s color could make according to customer requirements.
Silicone items are made of silicone and color masterbatch, the silicone original material is transparent, after a rubber finning mixer to put them together, the material is solid(PVC is liquid).
2. The difference of appearance
Silicone items look brighter luster, and the silicone feels softer than soft PVC items.

3.The difference of hand feeling.
Silicone is softer than PVC, the elasticity of silicone is better, PVC is harder, both of their hardness is adjustable, but PVC has no tenacity.
4. Silicone is 100% enviromental material, it could be pass CE, ROHS, FDA, LGFB certificate. Soft PVC have enviromental and not enviromental, the enviromental PVC is also called ATBC-PVC, all of our pvc items are enviromental.
5.The difference smell and burn.
Silicone is not smelly, Soft PVC is a little PVC smell, burn silicone items, it will become powder, burn soft PVC items, it will become black oil and a little smelly.
6. Temperature is different.
Silicone is more heat-resistant and cold-resistant than PVC, silicone items could be put into the microwave oven and refrigerator.
